New Episode Drop!: Divination...Well, Predictions
Deep thoughts on where jewelry, design, shopping, the economy, and our collective sanity is headed in 2025.
The brilliant JB Jones succinctly called out the design world’s obsession with bows—those sweet symbols of girlish innocence used by everyone from Simone Rocha to Kate Spade—for what it really is in the just-dropped Rough Cut episode, Divination…Well, Predications.
“We were putting bows on everything to make it pretty for a long fucking time,” she said in the midst of a conversation about the ways in which design and style might respond to America’s soul-crushing political scene. She’s so right! We’ve been attempting to pretty up our National Shit Show with displays of virtue and light for far too long. When there’s no putting lipstick on this pig! And bows are dead (ding-dong)—one of many predictions for 2025 we offer up in this new episode.
But it’s not all doom and gloom, we promise. We also think this dark timeline will likely spawn a huge creative boom, and a rethinking of what “luxury” is, or could be. We pondered hard in this one, fueled by black coffee and these strange chicken chips Alain had in his kitchen, which were actually delicious.
We hope you enjoy the show!
